A Second Important Collection: The Works of David Shafer

If you will be at the IODC in two weeks, note that ORA will be giving out flash drives containing a nearly complete collection of the papers and patents of David Shafer. For those who know David, his talks are very often outside of the box, bringing interesting and valuable observations forward. David always read his papers from a manuscript, which only a few people would manage to get a copy of.  As a result, while some of David’s papers found their way into OSA or SPIE publications, many did not.  For those that were published, OSA and SPIE have graciously agreed to this limited distribution of his works on the flash drive. Also, David filed over 100 patents, which also contain valuable insights into aberrations and optical design.  These patents are also collected on the drive. In all, there are over 200 papers/patents, including, as always, an interesting introductory note from David. Be sure to stop by ORA Engineering’s booth at IODC to pick up a flash drive, since quantities are limited. Following the conference, David will have any remaining drives, so you can contact him directly to inquire about availability.
